Under the direction of the Controller, performs advanced accounting and financial reporting functions for the Convention Center Authority while assisting with oversight of daily accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
Posts, reviews, and maintains records of original entry related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, income, expenditures, and other financial activities.
Compiles, records, analyzes, and reviews a variety of financial transactions.
Manages and maintains the fixed asset process, including capitalization, disposals, depreciation, project tracking, and reconciliation of asset records.
Reconciles subsidiaries and control accounts and prepares regular and special financial statements and reports.
Reviews and monitors the work of accounting clerks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures and accounting standards.
Assists in the classification and control of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
Attends applicable training sessions
Perform additional duties as assigned.ย ย
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degreeย preferred
Three to five years of relevant experience required
Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Individual should be self-motivated and self-starting, exhibit an ability to multi-task and require little supervision
Proven experience in accounting roles with a strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation
Familiarity with GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and SOX compliance protocols
Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments is preferred; experience in non-profit or governmental sectors is a plus.ย
