Seeking an experienced Accountant to play a critical role in coordinating the monthly accounting close, ensuring an efficient and accurate monthly accounting close and producing management financial reports, ensuring all accounting records are maintained in accordance to proper accounting standards by verifying valuations and reconciling all balance sheet accounts monthly. Effectively coordinating product costing and valuation issues.
Summary: Seeking an experienced Accountant to play a critical role in coordinating the monthly accounting close, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting. This position is responsible for maintaining accounting records in compliance with proper standards, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and addressing product costing and valuation issues. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. This is an in-office position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct monthly accounting close for assigned entities, including journal entries, posting general ledger transactions, and producing financial statements by scheduled deadlines.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including management reports detailing operational results compared to budgets.
- Reconcile all relevant balance sheet accounts (cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, other assets/liabilities) and resolve discrepancies by collaborating with AP, AR, Contract Entry, or Payroll teams.
- Maintain fixed asset valuations and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare year-end workpapers for audit and review by designated deadlines.
- Coordinate year-end physical inventory and ensure full reconciliation.
- Provide operational support as directed by the CFO.
- Internal Contacts: Middle-level management, Accounting Manager, CFO for financial statement presentations and reconciliations.
- External Contacts: Bank branches for cash activity discussions and outside accountants/auditors.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage) preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reconciliation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with effective task prioritization.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 2-3 years professional accounting experience.
- Prior experience in accounting close processes and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with GAAP and standard accounting practices.
