General Summary
  • The Accountant will prepare complete and accurate financial and statistical information/records for the Finance Division, Administration, and the Board of Trustees under the close supervision and detailed review by the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizes and prints complete financial statements monthly in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluations for accuracy and reliability of the general ledger.
  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Assists department staff with accounting questions and problems relating to their areas, as well as providing assistance with interdepartmental concerns.
  • Accepts responsibility for cost control and quality improvement within their span of control.
  • Completes accounting activities required by regulation and management request in a timely and accurate manner and responds to user requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Additional projects and analytics, as directed by the Controller and/or CFO, to identify areas of potential cost reduction, revenue generation, as well as tasks supporting facility-wide and departmental initiatives as necessary.

Education

  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from an accredited institution or appropriate education and experience in Accounting required. Master’s degree preferred.


Work Experience

  • Two years accounting experience required. Professional experience in healthcare is preferred. Must have working knowledge and proficiency using spreadsheet software such as EXCEL.


Certification/License

  • CPA preferred but not required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Requires normal attention, with periods of considerable mental concentration. Work is primarily sedentary with extensive use of a computer. Must be able to manipulate 10 lb stacks of accounting reports.
