POSITION SUMMARY

The GA Ops Senior Accountant will lead the performance of more complex financial accounting activities including journal entries and account reconciliations along with preparing financial statements and reports.  This position will be responsible for leading these activities timely and accurately in the monthly closing process activities in accordance with company accounting policies and GAAP. This role will perform SOX controls as well as the review of recurring controls in compliance with company policy. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the preparation of the annual operating plan and forecasting processes along with in-depth financial variance analysis. As an operational business partner, this position will serve the local leadership in productivity and cost savings through lean manufacturing activities and key performance indicators.  This work will involve a high level of independent judgment and problem solving, accuracy, and initiative.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure financials are prepared, reconciled, and reported timely and accurately in accordance with company accounting policies and GAAP.  
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations, along with review core reconciliations.
  • Lead creation of non-recurring and more complex journal entries, along with review of core entries. 
  • Perform routine compliance testing of SOX controls. 
  • Analyze variances and financial statements in-depth. 
  • Prepare components for the annual operating plan. 
  • Prepare the more complex inputs of the monthly forecast along with oversight of the basic items. 
  • Serve as key operational business partner supporting continuous improvement projects and activities (Compass Room Process).
  • Develop and deliver to the business ad-hoc analyses.
  • Collaborate with the controller to deliver financial statements and analyses o key business stekholders.
  • Support external and internal audits, as necessary.
  • Identify and implement efforts to improve financial processes.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other related degree required. Master’s degree or CPA/CMA is preferred.

·       5+ years of progressive accounting and or finance experience required.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

·       Manufacturing accounting knowledge and experience, including standard cost skills are preferred. 

·       Ability to solve problems independently and resourcefully.

·       Strong attention to detail.

·       Ability to think analytically.

·       Ability to break down problems and provide recommendations for solutions.

·       Function efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

·       Skilled in Microsoft Excel, specifically in pivot tables, vlook-ups, formulas, and functions.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

·       This position is an Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·       This position is subject to sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

·       This position is subject to the following physical activities: the use of fingers to pick or type, walking, talking, and hearing.

 Visual Acuity

·       The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

  Working Conditions

·       This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
