Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team at our Chicago, Illinois office. The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for capital expenditures, accounts payable, intercompany transactions between business units, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position is a multi-faceted hands-on role, with extensive opportunities to help build strong financial processes for the organization. The Staff Accountant will report to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Process and account for capital expenditures transactions.
  • Manage Accounts Payable process.
    • Enter AP Invoices into SAP.
    • Manage the AP Inflow and timeliness of execution.
    • Plan appropriate resources and support needed to meet weekly deadlines. 
    • Communicate with and assist vendor relationship owners to determine appropriate general ledger coding for invoices based on knowledge of the general ledger and appropriate accounting treatment. 
    • Ensure strong controls are followed related to accounts payable fraud risks.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and corporate allocations / transactions to business units.
  • Prepare corporate tax packages
  • Complete month end reconciliations. Investigate differences and resolve.
  • Compile and prepare government reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports by preparing schedules and compiling results of disclosure requirements from the business units for various footnotes and disclosures.
  • Prepare schedules supporting the Company’s annual and quarterly forecasting and management reporting processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of accounting experience 
  • Excellent technological aptitude and proficiency with MS Excel
  • Experience with SAP and/or consolidation software are preferred, but not required
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills in a professional work environment
  • A sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • A strong work ethic and the highest level of integrity
  • Ability to prepare timely and accurate reports with an excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to change and navigate through ambiguity in a constantly evolving environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills

The full range for this position, across all geographies is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting Salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
