Are you a passionate and skilled visual artist looking to inspire the next generation? We are seeking a dedicated Art Teacher to lead engaging art instruction for K-12 students in New York City. In this role, you’ll help students explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and express themselves through multiple art forms while fostering a lifelong appreciation for visual arts.

Role Overview

As a Visual Arts Instructor, you will create a supportive and inspiring classroom environment where students explore drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and design. You will guide students through the creative process, introduce art history and contemporary practices, and cultivate critical thinking through artistic expression.


Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Development

  • Develop and teach a comprehensive art curriculum covering multiple mediums and techniques.
  • Introduce students to art history, design principles, and contemporary visual practices.
  • Foster creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through project-based learning.

Student Engagement & Classroom Culture

  • Create a safe, supportive, and motivating classroom environment for all students.
  • Encourage experimentation and personal expression while developing technical skills.
  • Provide individualized feedback to support students’ artistic growth.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work with fellow Art Teachers to design and enhance a cohesive, school-wide arts program.
  • Participate in professional development and coaching sessions to refine instructional practices.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that showcase student artwork and integrate arts across the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Studio Art, or Art Education.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating technical skill, creativity, and passion for teaching.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students in visual arts.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Dedication to fostering student growth, creativity, and confidence.

Compensation

Salary Range: $65,000 USD (may vary based on experience and qualifications)
