Are you a passionate vocalist and educator looking to inspire young musicians? We are seeking a dedicated Choir Teacher to lead vocal music instruction for K-12 students in New York City. Role Overview
As a Vocal Music Instructor, you will create an engaging and supportive classroom environment where students explore choral singing, learn healthy vocal techniques, and develop ensemble performance skills. You will guide students through repertoire, performance, and music appreciation while fostering confidence and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Teach a comprehensive choir curriculum, covering vocal technique, part-singing, and age-appropriate repertoire.
- Develop students’ understanding of musical theory, notation, and performance skills.
- Introduce students to music from diverse cultures and traditions.
Performance & Concert Production
- Plan, rehearse, and produce high-quality choral performances and school concerts.
- Prepare students for solo and ensemble opportunities, competitions, and showcases.
- Collaborate with other music educators to design a cohesive, school-wide vocal music program.
Student Engagement & Classroom Culture
- Foster a safe, supportive, and motivating environment where students explore creativity and build confidence.
- Provide individualized feedback to help students improve vocal technique and musicality.
- Promote teamwork, leadership, and ensemble collaboration.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Participate in ongoing professional development and coaching sessions to refine teaching practices.
- Collaborate with music teachers and school leaders to enhance instructional strategies and curriculum design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed prior to start date (Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or related field).
- Strong knowledge of vocal production, healthy singing techniques, and choral pedagogy.
- Ability to teach accurate pronunciation, articulation, and dynamics in multiple languages used in choral repertoire.
- Experience teaching or coaching vocal music to children or adolescents.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Passion for music education and inspiring student growth.

Compensation
Salary Range: $65,000 USD (may vary based on experience and qualifications)
