Financial Advisor, Money Coach– Job Description


Position Summary
As a Money Coach, this role serves as a financial wellness resource for retirement plan participants by delivering one-on-one coaching and group education to improve retirement readiness. The role is accountable for empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions, identifying broader financial planning needs, and collaborating with senior financial advisors to deliver holistic solutions. This position supports organizational growth by enhancing participant outcomes, driving engagement, and generating qualified referrals, while balancing hands-on coaching, travel, and program representation responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership & Ownership

·         Ownership of participant financial coaching and education within the Money Coach Program.

·         Serving as a subject matter resource on retirement readiness and basic financial planning topics.

·         Partnering with senior financial advisors to align participant needs with broader advisory services.

·         Representing the program in prospective and annual client meetings.

Hands-On Execution & Delivery

·         Conducting one-on-one and group coaching sessions covering retirement readiness, budgeting, debt management, and investment fundamentals.

·         Providing education on plan features such as contribution limits, employer match, and Roth vs. Traditional strategies.

·         Supporting participant hotline calls and addressing inquiries in a timely manner.

·         Hosting webinars, workshops, and office hours to increase participant engagement.

Reporting, Quality & Operational Support

·         Maintaining accurate records of coaching sessions, participant progress, and referral activity.

·         Tracking metrics including engagement, satisfaction, and referral outcomes.

·         Ensuring accuracy and quality of participant interactions and documentation.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Integration

·         Collaborating with senior advisors to ensure smooth referral handoffs and follow-through.

·         Partnering with marketing to develop educational materials and program content.

·         Aligning with internal teams to support participant engagement and program success.

Growth, Change & Special Initiatives

·         Supporting expansion and adoption of the Money Coach Program across client organizations.

·         Participating in new client implementations and program enhancements.

·         Contributing to continuous improvement of participant experience and outcomes.

Process Improvement & Best Practices

·         Identifying opportunities to enhance coaching effectiveness and engagement strategies.

·         Using data insights to refine outreach, education, and referral processes.

·         Staying current on financial wellness trends and best practices.

Center of Excellence (COE) Contribution

·         Contributing to development of financial wellness tools, resources, and playbooks.

·         Supporting consistent delivery standards across the program.

·         Partnering with internal stakeholders to improve scalability and program effectiveness.


Accountability

·         Delivering high-quality coaching that improves participant financial outcomes.

·         Maintaining accurate and reliable data related to participant engagement and referrals.

·         Achieving referral targets, including at least $50k in closed referrals annually.

·         Building strong, trust-based relationships with participants and internal stakeholders.

·         Driving participant engagement and satisfaction through education and support.


Qualifications

·         2+ years of experience in financial coaching, retirement planning, or a related client-facing role.

·         Understanding of retirement plans and core financial planning principles.

·         FINRA Series 6 or 7 and Series 65 or 66 licenses required.

·         Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

·         Ability to travel 50–75%, including regional and some overnight travel.

Preferred

·         Professional certifications such as CFP®, CRPC®, AFC®, or similar.

·         Experience delivering group education or financial wellness programs.

·         Experience working with retirement plan participants or employer-sponsored plans.
