Description

Kensington Investment Company is seeking an experienced Financial Cost Accountant to join the Accounting & Finance team. This role reports to our Senior Accountant and will be responsible for supporting accounting functions including accruals, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and general ledger management. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the company by maintaining the accounting for our Utah real estate portfolio. 


This role will also work alongside the SVP, Construction and Facilities to complete the accounting of residential and commercial building renovations and capital improvements. It will help manage, track and execute projects from the initial design phase to construction completion. Types of projects include commercial tenant fit outs, residential apartment renovations, historical restorations and building system replacements. Properties are in Boston and Utah. 


This position is based in KIC's Boston office in the Seaport and follows a hybrid work schedule of in person 3x per week and remote 2x per week.

Requirements

Responsibilities: 


Utah Commercial Property Financials to include:

  • Timely and accurate monthly financials for each property
  • Weekly cash reconciliations of operating accounts
  • Assist property managers with financial requests
  • Maintain updated tenant ledgers

Utah Residential Properties to include: 

  • Timely and accurate financial reporting sent to partners and lenders
  • Adhere to lender requirements
  • Work with property management and Asset Manager for accurate financials
  • Update monthly operations report with current financials


Job Costing - setup, update and monitor projects in Northspyre to include:

  • Enter jobs in Northspyre and Real Page
  • Enter budgets in Northsypre
  • Enter commitments and PO's in Real Page
  • Review & code all capex invoices
  • Organize project files and upload quotes/contracts to Real Page


Reporting: build, update, and distribute reports

  • Weekly Capex report
  • Project schedules / milestone updates
  • Monthly financials forecast
  • Meeting minutes

Subcontractor and Materiasl Procurement

  • Study project scope of work and get estimates/proposals
  • Issue subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Set up new vendors in job costing
  • Set up credit accounts with new vendors

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • BS in Accounting
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong interest in construction and real estate development/management
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with formula skills
  • Experience with Real Page and Northspyre a plus but not required
  • Experience with FloQast a plus but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding time management skills, with proven ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities effectively
  • Sound judgement, maturity, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion


Compensation and Benefits: 


The target compensation for this position is $100,000 - $110,000 annually. This position is eligible for an annual performance based bonus. Please note: Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience and expertise and may vary for the amount above. This range does not represent additional compensation benefits (such as bonus, 401k, medical, dental or vision insurance).
