Our client, a respected and established organization in the mortgage legal services industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. What You’ll Do:
Own Core Accounting Functions
Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries and reconciliations
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity
Oversee key balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
Support accounts payable, receivable, and cash management functions as needed
Lead Month-End Close
Own key components of the monthly and annual close process
Ensure timely and accurate completion of close deliverables
Prepare schedules, supporting documentation, and close analytics
Financial Reporting & Business Support
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Develop internal reporting packages for leadership review
Analyze financial results, trends, and variances
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Improve Processes & Controls
Identify inefficiencies and recommend smarter ways of working
Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
Help implement automation, system enhancements, or workflow improvements
Leadership & Growth
Partner closely with accounting leadership on priorities and initiatives
Mentor junior team members and serve as a go-to resource
Take on special projects and increased responsibility over time
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports
Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
Detail-oriented, organized, and solutions-focused mindset
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
CPA or CPA track a plus
Experience in professional services, legal, mortgage, real estate, or high-volume transactional environments a plus
Experience supporting audits, budgeting, or forecasting a plus
