JOB SUMMARY
Assist the Finance Reporting team with financial records by inputting financial transactions, verifying the accuracy of ledgers, and providing timely and accurate management reports for the Company. Also responsible for researching, interpreting, and communicating information related to financial statements, budgeting, and reinsurance issues.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Document, compute, and process reinsurance transactions. Review claims activity for potential reinsurance applications. Calculate and record reinsurance payables and recoveries.
- Assist in compiling and reporting the Company’s annual budget. This includes soliciting and consolidating departmental input and calculating corporate budget items.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, reinsurance reports, and other reports required by the various state insurance departments. This includes compiling and balancing financial ledgers to produce the monthly financial statements.
- Conduct excess liability reinsurance calculations and reconcile reports to expected results. Perform research to identify any discrepancies and resolve issues related to the Reinsurance Masterfile.
- Assist in providing analysis for negotiations of new or modified reinsurance contracts.
- Assist in maintaining the corporate insurance policies, auto and equipment lease financing activity, and the business continuity plan as needed.
- Represent the finance department on various Company committees that interface with financial systems or the reinsurance program.
- Prepare and file, as scheduled, estimated tax payments, annual premium tax returns, sales and use tax statements, and other premium reports or assessments.
- Review all invoices and journal entries for proper accounting and authorization. Scan related documentation and other reconciliations into the imaging system for reference and retention.
- Occasionally balance the monthly financial statements to the corporate ledger by recording accrual transactions. Research and resolve any inconsistencies and improve the process when possible.
- Occasionally upload monthly balances into the budgeting system for reporting. Create budget reports and distribute to various departments on a monthly basis. Assist in identifying and analyzing actual to budget variances for each department and record correcting entries as needed.
- Occasionally record affiliate reimbursement and chargeback transactions. Ensure proper calculations have been performed and the appropriate authorization is documented. Identify and resolve discrepancies between companies and ensure requested reimbursements are completed.
- Complete other projects as assigned.

- Strong Microsoft Office, especially Excel and spreadsheet, capabilities is desired.
- Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with a minimum of a two-year accounting emphasis.
- Must have active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Must have 3 – 5 years general business, insurance or related experience.
- Expertise and experience in insurance accounting is desired.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is desired.
- Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) designation, and/ or Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation is desired.
