Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $160,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $265,000/year in our highest geographic market. Within Amazon Devices & Services, we are reinventing the Alexa customer experience by creating the next-generation of AI-based technology. As part of that work, we are also transforming our business model so we can continue to invent on behalf of our customers.
Foundational to that business model transformation is rethinking how we sell Echo devices to millions of customers each year worldwide. This team develops annual, quarterly, and monthly sales strategies. They also establish and execute competitive pricing and promotions on Amazon.com and at offline retailers (i.e., Best Buy, Target). Finally, they manage inventory to ensure clean product transitions from one generation to the next.
We are seeking a seasoned P&L manager to lead eight direct reports and the 25+-person cross-functional organization during this exciting, transformational stage of our business. In this role, you will manage a sizable portion of the Echo P&L, which requires strong business acumen and high judgement. You will lead the team in delivering short- and long-term results through thoughtful strategy and excellent execution. You will report on business health to the most senior leaders in Devices & Services through weekly and monthly mechanisms. The ideal candidate excels at customer obsession, ownership, invent & simplify, and dive deep. Moreover, the leader will be comfortable with constant change and persistent pressure to deliver results.
Key job responsibilities
- Build three-year worldwide business plan (3YP) as well as annual business strategy and goals (OP1, OP2)
- Guide worldwide team in accurately forecasting the business based on customer insights, sales trends, external landscape insights, and internal business plans; update business plans as part of the quarterly guidance cycle
- Lead worldwide cross-functional team in delivering short- and long-term results; cross-functional team includes demand planning, finance, offline retail management, marketing, merchandising, and product
- Develop annual promotional strategy, including the approach to High-Velocity Events (HVEs) such Prime Day, Prime Best Deal Days, and Black Friday/Cyber Monday; deliver flawless execution of HVEs
- Identify ways to optimize traffic and conversion through improved marketing and merchandising; build new playbooks to maximize sales growth and efficiency
- Prioritize work effectively in a fast-changing environment with lean resourcing
- Develop team through regular coaching, monthly career/growth discussions, and quarterly Talent Reviews; continuously refine team culture and support team as they navigate constant change
- Report on business health to the most senior leaders in Devices & Services; regularly develop or contribute to leadership documents
