What Are We Looking For?
 
Novant Health Urgent Care is currently looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant provides professional accounting support to a variety of financial functions for the company, including preparation of month end close journal entries, performing cash and other account reconciliations and various other special projects. 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Reconciles assigned bank accounts and various balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Prepares monthly journal entries to include, but not limited to cash and accounts receivables
  • Compiles miscellaneous invoices
  • Prepares weekly reconciliation of payments posted in practice management system to bank deposits
  • Imports patient refunds for payment processing
  • Serves as a backup to accounts payable specialist and other accountant.
  • Prepares business license renewals and submits payments
  • Performs annual unclaimed property process including reporting and payment
  • Assists with property tax payment processes
  • Ensures compliance with cash management procedures and internal controls
  • Assists in improving processes and procedures for a more efficient and accurate monthly close
  • Assists management as needed with financial information requests and questions
  • Assists in preparation of annual financial audits
  • Assists in the development, documentation and implementation of departmental accounting procedures and standards
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and/or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure
  • Proposes cost saving opportunities when appropriate
  • Performs research related to accounting guidance as needed.
 
 
Do You Have What It Takes?
 
A good candidate will bring with them:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems
  • Strong written, oral and presentation skills
  • Intermediate skills in Excel
  • Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to research, interpret and report on complex data
  • Strong interpersonal skills: must be able to communicate well with wide variety of individuals within the organization and work well in a team-based environment
  • Goal oriented with ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  •  Strong attention to detail
