JOB TITLE:   Accounting Specialist

REPORTS TO:   Controller

 

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon Hire

 

POSITION: Full-Time, Salary, starting range: $45,000 - $55,000/yr (experienced based), In-person only

 

 

SUMMARY:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations with a primary focus on accounts receivable, cash management, and sales reconciliation. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and supports the finance team in delivering timely and reliable financial information. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform sales reconciliations and manage accounts receivable processes 
  • Oversee the processing and reconciliation of route deposits, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies 
  • Process payment application and posting 
  • Manage deposits and maintain branch-level records 
  • Review and approve invoice adjustments and pricing corrections to maintain billing accuracy 
  • Perform and validate daily proofing and posting of transactions to support financial reporting and audit readiness 
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes and improve internal controls 
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with internal cash-handling controls 
  • Support month-end close activities as needed 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines 
  • Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Suite
