Position Summary:
The Payroll Accountant / HR Generalist plays a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and related accounting activities across the U.S. operations. This position serves as the bridge between HR, Finance, and external partners to maintain payroll integrity, ensure tax compliance, and support data-driven decisions through analytics and reporting. This role requires a hands-on professional with advanced payroll tax knowledge, strong analytical skills, and deep experience working with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Smart Compliance, and Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:
Payroll Administration & Accounting- Process multi-state biweekly payrolls in ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with federal, state, and local laws. (Backup )
- Maintain payroll tax setup, rates, and registrations in ADP Smart Compliance; research and resolve tax discrepancies.
- Audit payroll reports for accuracy and consistency across HRIS, benefits, and timekeeping systems.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and assist with year-end W-2 processing.
HR Generalist & Compliance Support
- Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity within HRIS (ADP WFN).
- Support HR compliance programs including FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, and state-specific leave and wage regulations.
- Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee status changes.
- Partner with HR Director to execute special projects such as audits, policy updates, and handbook revisions.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and employment verification.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain advanced Excel models and dashboards to track labor costs, headcount, turnover, and compensation trends.
- Generate standard and ad hoc HR/payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze data to identify process improvement opportunities and ensure payroll accuracy.
QualificationsRequired:
- 3–5 years of progressive payroll experience with multi-state exposure.
- Strong payroll tax knowledge (federal, state, and local).
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and ADP Smart Compliance (required).
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data integrity.
- Working knowledge of HR compliance and employment regulations.
- Excellent communication, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- Experience with HR reporting, audits, or integrations between HRIS and Finance.
- Familiarity with benefits administration and general HR operations.

Hours/schedule: This is a full-time regular, exempt level position. Role will be a combination of work in an office setting, and occasional local & national travel to field sites.
