SUMMARY

Assist with monthly financial statements & statistics, and month end close. Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement analysis.  Assist in the preparation of annual audit schedules and other ad hoc reports as assigned by the Controller.  Responsible for the annual budget preparation.  Assist with special projects as assigned by the Controller, Vice President of Finance, CEO or Senior Leadership.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepare accurate, timely financial statements monthly and assist with the month-end close,

2. Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Controllers attention,

3. Assist with monthly journal and payroll entries,

4. Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly,

5. Assists with annual external audit and in preparing schedules,

6. Assists with annual cost report schedules and other required reports,

7. Works in conjunction with team leaders to analyze monthly financial reports,

8. Record cash receipts daily and reconcile to bank at month-end,

9. Reconcile operating and payroll bank accounts monthly,

10. Responsible for sending out monthly departmental financial reports,

11. Responsible for setting-up and mapping new payroll codes to the general ledger,

12. Assists with setting-up new departments and accounts in the general ledger,

13. Assist payroll specialist with payroll related matters when needed,

14. All other duties as assigned.

  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in accounting required, 
  • Two or more years related hospital accounting experience and/or training preferred. 
  • Experience using Meditech and ADP highly desirable or other third-party payroll services acceptable,
  • Proficient in Excel and Word and other office products,
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and attention to detail,
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
