Description

Objective

This position supports and oversees core accounting and reporting functions for the Conference and its affiliated organizations. The role is responsible for leading key aspects of the monthly close and financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational policies, and serving as a senior resource to the Controller and CFO.

Requirements

 Financial Management

· Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, depreciation, and consolidations.

· Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and explanations, for review by the Controller.

· Serve as a resource to staff across departments by providing guidance on budget coding, expense reports, and financial procedures.

· Assist the Controller with the preparation of budgets and forecasts by providing data, analysis, and recommendations.

· Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records, maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

· Provide oversight of accounting system use, support upgrades, and ensure data integrity.

· Manage fiscal sponsorship relationships, ensuring reporting accuracy and compliance.

· Compile documentation and schedules for the annual audit, working with external auditors. Assist in preparing footnote disclosures and other required reports.

· Support the completion of annual tax filings (Form 990s, BCO-10s), coordinating with external tax preparers.

· Track restricted funds and grants, supporting investor relations in grant reporting and close-out processes.

· Oversee the recording and monitoring of multi-year pledges and sponsorships in Salesforce CRM.

· Contribute to team effectiveness by supporting special projects and other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Job Requirements

Education: Undergraduate degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred but not required.

Experience: 5–7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, public accounting, and nonprofit background preferred.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, audit coordination, and nonprofit accounting concepts.

Skills:

o Advanced Excel and proficiency with MS Office.

o Experience with MIP (accounting software) and Salesforce CRM preferred.

o Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.

o Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial staff.

o Demonstrated integrity, high ethical standards, and strong communication skills.

o Ability to work independently and recommend process improvements.
