Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our day-to-day accounting operations and weekly payroll processing. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in general accounting principles who thrives in a structured, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger on a monthly basis

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts

• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports

• Maintain organized and accurate financial records in compliance with company policy

Payroll

• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and withholdings

• Maintain employee payroll records and update changes (new hires, terminations, rate changes, direct deposit)

• Utilize reporting tools to audit payroll data and support finance reporting needs

• Prepare and file payroll tax deposits and quarterly/annual returns (941, W-2s, etc.)

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner

• Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

  

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, in-office position. Some overtime may be required during close periods, tax deadlines, and weekly payroll processing cycles.

Requirements

  

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred

• Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software required

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to meet recurring weekly payroll deadlines

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred

• Experience with multi-state payroll

• Knowledge of GAAP fundamentals

• CPA track or actively pursuing certification is a plus
