Staff Accountant | Commercial Real Estate (AR/AP Focus)
Downtown Milwaukee, WI (onsite)


Inland Family of Companies and Colliers | Wisconsin is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in downtown Milwaukee. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work, takes pride in accuracy, and is looking for a long-term, stable position within a collaborative environment.


You will support a large office high-rise and play a key role in the day-to-day accounting processes that keep operations running smoothly.

What you will do

This role focuses on the core accounting functions that support property operations. You will work closely with an experienced team and develop deep knowledge of real estate accounting processes.


Core responsibilities

  • Manage tenant accounts receivable including rent billing, utilities, and other recurring charges
  • Process accounts payable including invoice entry, coding, and vendor communication using AVID
  • Apply cash receipts and maintain accurate, up-to-date records
  • Support monthly close with recurring entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Maintain organized financial files and supporting documentation

Ongoing responsibilities

  • Review and support lease-related billing activity
  • Assist with CAM reconciliations and budget tracking
  • Work within real estate accounting systems such as MRI
  • Partner with property management to ensure accurate and timely financial information

This role has consistent responsibilities and processes. Over time, you will build efficiency, accuracy, and depth of knowledge in these areas.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Experience in accounting, with preference for real estate or property accounting
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills

Preferred

  • Experience with MRI, Yardi, or similar accounting systems
  • Prior exposure to commercial real estate accounting
