We are looking for an Staff Accountant to join our finance team at Munising Memorial Hospital! This position is perfect for someone looking for entry level accounting experience. There will be direct one on one training provided for three months along with continued supervision. 


The Staff Accountant will assist the hospital accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing routine journal entries, assisting in month-end close activities, and providing support during audits. This position is full time, on-site in Munising, MI. On occasion, work from home is permitted. This position is eligible to receive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, and retirement benefits. 


Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in preparation of financial reports and accounting statements. 
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to general ledger. 
  • Reconcile cash deposits from the Hospital and Clinic. 
  • Prepare and process accounts payable. 
  • Reconcile bank activity to payment files. Troubleshoot any issues.
  • Assist with external audit data requests.
  • Assist with pulling data for cost reporting and any other governmental audits.

Education/Experience Requirements: 

  • Associates degree in accounting or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Accounting experience in other fields can be a substitute for the above. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Requires normal vision range.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires repetitive motion, including data entry and filing.


Salary Description
$40,000 to $55,000
